Berliner Aids-Hilfe is seeking for Checkpoint BLN:

Psychosocial Counselor

part time (25.5–31.5 hours per week)
for immediate start

Checkpoint BLN is a community-based sexual health clinic for LGBTIQ* people. We offer PrEP, PEP, HIV/STI testing, sexual health counseling, chemsex counseling and STI treatment. See our website for more information about our work and our services.

Your responsibilities at Checkpoint BLN would include:

  • Counseling before and after tests for HIV, HCV and STIs
    • Advising on transmission, disease progression and treatment options for HIV, STIs and Hepatitis
    • Selecting appropriate tests and communicating results
  • Counseling on pre-exposure and post-exposure prophylaxis
  • Prevention counseling
    • Counseling on safer sex, safer use and harm reduction
    • Developing individual risk management strategies with clients
  • Referring to specialized counseling and support services
  • Recurring counseling on issues of sexual health and sexualized substance use
  • Participating in team meetings and cross-project committees

We expect:

  • Degree in Social Work, Education Science, Public Health or comparable
  • Confidence in using modern communications technology and software
  • Language skills in German (B2 or higher) and English (B2 or higher)
  • Engagement with issues of racism and with discrimination faced by LGBTIQ* people

We value:

  • Language skills in further languages
  • LGBTIQ identity or comprehensive knowledge of and solidarity with the LGBTIQ community
  • Comprehensive knowledge of HIV, STI, Hepatitis, substance use, HIV prevention and harm reduction strategies
